Help Me Help You

Tuesday Afternoon —

I want to download Firefox 3 in support of their Download Day, which aims to break a world record for number of downloads in one day. I really do. I want to show my support for the Open Source community. I want to be using the newest and smartest browser out there. I want to do my part to further the flame that is Mozilla’s Firefox. I really honestly do.

But all of their webservers are down due to the ridiculous amounts of bandwidth usage. That’s what you get for asking everyone in the world to jump at the same time, you knock the planet off it’s axis.

My coworker Tim found a way to download it, if you’re interested. Just access the FTP address for the download. The downside is the download doesn’t get counted, so if you want to be one of the cool kids with the new browser, you’ll have to download it again later.

Click here to download Firefox 3 from the FTP server.

[EDIT: Turns out that link takes you to the most recent beta, not the final version. I think. Just a warning. ]
